“But the natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he is not able to understand them, because they are spiritually discerned. Now the spiritual person discerns all things, but he himself is judged by no one.” 1 Corinthians 2:14-15
“Read Between the Lines” is one of those phrases we hear for both helpful and hurtful reasons:
• Sometimes it’s because someone wants us to know that they are not happy with us.
• Other times, it’s so we can get the bigger or clearer picture.
I love this passage because it really says so much to us as followers, while also encouraging those who are still seeking to know the life one can look forward to (saying “yes” to life with Jesus fills us with the Spirit of the Living God all the time!).
As followers of Jesus, these verses let us know that the indwelling power of the Holy Spirit will empower us to live on purpose – on mission for Jesus. Because He’s in us, we are capable of living holy lives. At the same time, I see this passage as highly evangelistic. Because those who do not know Jesus are incapable to understand the truth, I want them to know my King – how much He loves them and the life we get to live in Him if we believe. These verses compel me to tell His story!
How about you?
Gracious God – Thank You for choosing and loving me. Thanks You for Your daily presence dwelling in me. Give me a greater burden to tell Your story to the lost and hurting. May I be compelled to share! – In Jesus’ name, Amen.
